HOW THE CARS 4 CAUSES PROGRAM WORKS
Step 1: Contact Cars 4 Causes by phoning 800-766-CARE (800-766-2273). At this time, please be sure to let them know that you would like to have the proceeds from your vehicle donation be designated to the Windmill Thrift Shop.
Step 2: Cars 4 Causes will arrange to pick up the vehicle - towing it to one of their four southland locations at no charge to you, the donor - then they will get it ready for sale by completing minor repairs, and securing all DMV paperwork. They will also have the vehicle smog-checked to be certain it meets state requirements.
Step 3: Cars 4 Causes will provide you with a Kelly Blue Book evaluation to help you determine your possible tax deduction, along with a thank you letter and a receipt acknowledging your donation. If the value is over &5,000, they will provide an independent appraisal (as required by the IRS), at no cost to you.
Step 4: Cars 4 Causes will advertise and sell the vehicle to get the highest possible price. When the vehicle is sold they will send a check to the Windmill Thrift Shop.
It’s easy and simple. They do the work. The Windmill Thrift Shop will get funds to divide equally between Senior Community Centers of San Diego and Vista Hill.
